Congratulations must go to the six men who bared all in Lichfield’s production of The Full Monty. I need to include a seventh who didn’t quite do the Full Monty but who certainly impressed many of the audience if the screams, shouts and whistles were an indication. Robert Bateman (Buddy ‘Keno’ Walsh) set the tone of the evening perfectly but I must commend Phil Bourne (Jerry Lukowski), Ben Green (Dave Bukatinsky), Patrick Jervis (Malcolm MacGregor), David Hill (Harold Nichols), Fidel Lloyd ( Noah ‘Horse’ T. Simmons) and Mark Johnson (Ethan Girard) on their characters throughout the show. They demonstrated considerable acting skills combined with powerful singing voices.. Fidel unveiled an impressive dance routine during the number ‘Big Black Man’. There was also a very clever comedic cameo from Julie Mallaband as Jeanette Burmeister. Ethan Bowley (Nathan Lukowski) showed a maturity beyond his years and will be a name to look out for in the future. He alternated in this part with Marcus Beesley who, I am sure, will also have wowed the audience. This wouldn’t be a complete show without the support of other cast members and it was certainly here in plenty with Katy Cotton (Georgie Bukatinski), Dawn Welch (Vicki Nichols), Selina Henson (Pam Lukowski) and others too numerous to mention.
There was an excellent band but at times the balance meant that they overpowered the singing. Lighting, sound and costumes all contributed to a successful show. Well done!
