The intriguing and complex tale of love and hate takes place during World War II. The story moves between past and present as Maurice Bendrix (Adam Woodward), a marginally successful writer, and Sarah Miles (Liz Webster), a woman in a distant and sterile marriage, wrestle with the emotional highs and lows of their love affair and its bitter aftermath.
There were strong performances from Liz Webster (Sarah Miles), Adam Woodward (Maurice Bendrix) and David Weller (Henry Miles), who managed to unravel this complex tale well, although at times it was difficult to figure out whether we're in the past or present or exactly who Sarah is referring to, and although the story did tend to move slowly at times, this was offset with a emotional and dramatic ending.
I also found the program to be an interesting and informative read, which coupled with some welcomed hospitality, capped a great night out.
