The Broad-Way Players shows are based on original ideas from all members of the Company. The Enchanted Library was no exception and learning from past productions resulted in the best show to date.

The company members have grown in confidence and stage presence. Relating to the audience and enjoying their time onstage. Props and backdrops were swiftly and unobtrusively placed and removed by cast members.   Costumes were sublime. Full of colour and joyfulness were the order of the day and, boy, did this production deliver.

We opened with the discovery of an abandoned library building. And we were whisked into a magical, glorious world of characters emerging from books of every genre. From Winnie the Pooh to Ishmael of Moby Dick fame and from  Anne Boleyn to James Bond. All represented by famous and lesser known songs from musicals.

I absolutely admire the way this company are unafraid to take a popular song from an established musical and create their own interpretation. No professional singers here but not one performer needed a microphone. Projection was good and songs were sung with conviction and emotion. The cast performed throughout as an ensemble. No-one seeking the limelight. Everyone portraying confidence, enthusiasm, joy and professionalism. Most importantly, both performers and audience were experiencing the joy of a live theatrical performance.

Broad-Way Players are an all abilities society. We certainly saw proof of that in this production. One of their strengths is to perform with sincerity, professionalism and pure joy. The audience left the theatre uplifted and full of praise for the Broad-Way.
