The great thing about an invitation to Blakeney is the anticipation and imagination on what might come up in an evening of innovative show. It was great fun throughout and oibvious enjoyment by all the cast and the audiences, it is such a pleasure to attend.
Once again, some very attractive and imaginative sets from the skilled team of scene painters; and again something different from the set team in a helicopter on a small stage, congratulations on transport from Goth Empire to Country of Wardrobia. To fit the theme of the title and interests of the Sultan, the wardrobe team excelled with all their creations of colour and style, certainly a feast for the eyes. And for the ears, the group accompanying the cast in the numbers.
When a production is written for a known company, the script focuses on the many talents and exploits to the full: no prima donna types, all are named characters and have a moment of stardom in the teamwork that is Blakeney Players, and the fun that goes with an always amazing and ‘different’ script and realisation (well done Peter Franklin).
Regulars in the audience wait for the great tap routine, the full chorus and danced numbers, the cameo characters, those moments of humour much appreciated and the twists in the story, indeed an evening to appreciate. I see that we had all the usual ‘suspects’ in the cast and each one contributed to the colour and sound and hilarity of the production: I will not name so many stars as it would be a complete cast list from the programme so good is the balance of talent, no wonder there is no shortage of people wanting to be a part of this continuing success story (I just wish that I lived closer!). And to say the programme is a masterpiece in naming! Congratulations to all concerned in any way in the production.
