This is a beautifully crafted play by Ronald Harwood. Having seen the brilliant film with Tom Courtenay and Albert Finney I was wary of seeing this piece on stage. My fears were completely unfounded. From the moment we were introduced to Norman and Sir I was completely immersed in the relationship between the two characters. Director Heather Cartmell knew exactly what was required from all involved and together with some excellent use of lighting, sound and set, she succeeded in giving the audience an insight into the lives of this travelling group of actors. Peter Taylor (Norman) and Andy Cooke (Sir) ran the full gamut of emotions, comedy and pathos in every scene. Excellent performances from both these very talented actors, only occasionally, was diction an issue when playing upstage. Although the play revolves around the two main characters it is essential that the minor roles contribute to all that the piece requires and this they did, making this a very successful evening. Congratulations once more to all involved, another triumph for this very talented company
