Sitting here at this computer I’m thinking how can I find the right words (I will use them all) to review this exceptinal piece of theatre? Here goes!!
Thank you Susanna for allowing me to to travel to Brighton to review ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time’ it was a round trip of 140 miles but I wouldn’t have missed it. On entry to the Campbell Studio Theatre. Wow!! What a set!! Andy Stoner Director, Set, Sound, Projection this is perfection before the show started. I couldn’t believe my eyes at all. Throughout the show this set, lighting, sound, projection had a big part to play in this production very workable indeed. Andy your hard work payed off excellently, and all on cue. With perfect graphics throughout. Andy Stoner you choose a phenomenal cast, all exceptional actors and they knew their craft. Archie Menzies as Christopher Boone playing an autistic young man isn't easy, but what a performance!! Archie’s acting thoughout the piece was phenomenal, all at the same level, never going over the top, incredible control and understanding of Christopher. This young actor was a pleasure to watch, so much talent and characterisation. Archie I hope you keep acting as your chosen career, going by the programme bio you are, you don’t need good luck because you are there already. Christopher’s parents played by Chris Herriot as Ed Boone and Emmie Spencer as Judy Boone, were also exceptional actors. Mellissa Paris, her portrayal of Siobhan gave us a flawless performance, as did all of the cast including Louis Craig as Mr Shears, Ellie Mason as Mrs Shears, Nikki Dunsford as Mrs Alexandra, Paul Fish as Reverand Peters and Uncle Terry. Ensemble players Lottie Erraff, Georgia Dearnley, Chris Dangerfield: what an ensemble of talented actors, all giving superb back up to this play. No, I haven't forgotten Ella Palmer as Movement Director. Ella, I loved the staccato movement you gave us, all excecuted well by the performers. Andy Stoner as Director, your direction was outstanding and very professional in all areas from staging to direction of your cast.
This production of ‘The Curious Incedent of the Dog (he was cute as well) in the Night-time. I cannot fault it in any way. Even down to the splendid programm.Thank you BHOS for inviting me. It was a pleasure and an honour to review your unmissable performance. Worth the trip for me, even the road closures on the way home...but I was wondering what can I say to review this production BHOS? It came easily.
