NMTC junior section put together an evening of Christmas entertainment with a festive concert of the cast’s own favourites for the first half and the second half being a cantata presentation of the Nativity called “The Christmas Jazz”.
In the first part of the programme we were treat to song, dance, recitation and a clarinet solo (by Tamsin Forster) giving many of the young cast an opportunity to shine. Everyone did very well and there were some good performances, I particularly enjoyed “Once upon a December” by Hannah Sanderson, and “Sliver Bird” by Lucy Conroy and Brooke Ness and the “All I want for Christmas” dance by Rachael Chambers, Millie Henderson and Poppy Keith.
The Christmas Jazz was an upbeat look at the event of the Nativity described in the programme as being written “not for religious or political correctness but for pure enjoyment” and it certainly gave pure enjoyment. In the sung through piece there were singing animals as well as the more traditional characters we expect to see. Every single participant gave their best and there were some lovely performances from Kian Whittingham (Joseph), Hannah Sanderson (Mary), Riley Chivers (Donkey), Brooke Ness (Gabriel), Lily Hardman (Landlady) and a hilarious number from Harley Leslie as the Centurion. Good costumes and props helped the story along the way.
Congratulations to everyone and thank you for a lovely festive celebration.
Councillors notes:
Like Michelle I commend the production team (which also included Liam Gilbert who assisted on keyboard) in bringing a perfect Christmas hor d'oeuvres to the stage and allowing the children of NMTC to shine
