In a typical suburban restaurant on a typical night, Sam and Nicole first meet. Sparks fly. And so, begins an expansive tale that traverses five generations of a modern family, from first kiss to final goodbye. A stunning, big-hearted play that spans nearly eighty years.  The Big Meal tells the extraordinary story of an ordinary family.

With a zigzag time scheme, we see the couple move through marriage and parenthood to eventual senility.  You must admire the expertise of this strong cast who swap roles with the agility of acrobats leaping between parallel ladders.

During the play, Amy Tregellis, as the waitress, came on with a tray of food and placed it in front of one of the last members.  The lights dimmed and the cast member eat their last meal and followed the waitress off the stage.  So well done and acted.  So much so that you could have heard a pin drop during these scenes.

The cast worked well together, there were really no names characters as the cast took so many roles.  Playing multiple roles were Eloise Tanley, Taylor Johns, John Richardson, Matt Round, Katie Lewis, Ann Troman and Amy Tregellis.  Playing the younger members of the family were two children, Lucas and Emily.  They gelled well with the adult cast and both had some great lines.

The scenery for this play was ideal.  Three tables in front of a curtain to ensure it looked like a restaurant.

Taylor Johns production was well received from the audience, and it was great to see this young director have a hit on his hands.

Congratulations to you all, thank you so much for the invite and I look forward to seeing you all soon.
