A cast of nearly thirty performers took to the stage this evening with Corby Amateur Theatrical Society’s latest musical production, “The Best Musicals Ever”. This was a lovely mix of popular musicals, both old and new and there was certainly something for every taste! This production has been very well directed and choreographed by Sheena Forster with very good staging, some imaginative dance routines and had an excellent pace throughout. The whole evening was supported by an excellent and very talented five-piece band headed by the musical director, Barbara Hockey. A cast of equally talented performers kept the audience thoroughly entertained with their infectious enthusiasm. In all there were numbers performed from fifteen different musicals; from the opening of “The Wedding Singer” to the finale of “Danny Hero”. I loved the sections from “West Side Story”, “Oliver”, “Grease” and “Priscilla”. “Happy Days” brought back fond memories for me as this was my first ever review as a NODA Representative and C.A.T.S went on to win the District 7 Best Musical Award with it! My favourite performance of the evening was “Two Ladies” from “Cabaret” which featured Janet, Heidi and Adrian. Well done to all the company you were fantastic and you all worked incredibly hard throughout the show! “The Best Musicals Ever” was simply, but effectively staged. The costumes were very good and in keeping with the individual show styles. The lighting and sound quality was mostly very good throughout the performance. Congratulations C.A.T.S for what was a thoroughly enjoyable evening!
