This was Richard Allan's first excursion into the dual roles of Producer and Musical Director and what an excellent job he made of it treating this delicate subject of the infamous Chicken Ranch with taste! I have seen production of this "near the bone subject" which went "over the top" but Richard succeeded in getting the best of the humour and music across without offending anyone. He, of course, had an excellent cast to assist him in his task and they all combined to give us an excellent show. There are too many to mention individually but carrying much of the comedy were Heidi Cathro as Miss Mona and Kenny Cathro as the sheriff. Alan Christison was an over-the-top Melvin P. Thorpe and Mark Masson gave a hilarious performance as The Governor in his Boss Hogg costume and an excellent "hat dance"! Top musical numbers included Mona's "Girl You're a Woman, Jewel and company's "Twenty Four Hours of Lovin' " and Susan Robertson's "Doatsey Mae." A very attractive group of "girls" and a well choreographed team of Aggies added to the piece and some excellent violin playing from the pit and superb harmony singing from the chorus made for an excellent evening of theatre. Well done A.M.S.
