I remember watching the Addams Family as a teenager and remembered how strange and creepy the family was, but today’s performance brought back some great memories, and it reminded me just how amusing the Addams Family were. The audience was treated to some outstanding performances from this group which had them laughing and cheering all night.

As the lights went down and the familiar theme tune from the Addams Family started, a hand came from behind the curtain and started to click their fingers and when the curtains opened the first thing I noticed was a beautiful and well designed set which was created by the stage manager Emily Houghton and her stage crew and in the top corner was a majestic moon that looked so inviting but more about that a little bit later.

I must say the lighting operator Abbie Pike done a wonderful job on the lights, with wonderful spotlights to colourful lighting all around the stage.

Gomaz Addams played by Harry Basnett did a great job with his accent and singing and he delivered his lines very well, but the real boss of the family Morticia Addams played by Poppy Savage gave a very confident performance as she seemed to just glide across the stage and staying in character the all-time. I really enjoyed the way she sang what a beautiful voice.

Pugsley Addams played by Rosie Hudson enjoyed being tortured by her sister but when love got in the way Pugsley decided to do something about it. Excellent performance.

Lurch played by Ethan Watson looked and sounded the same as I remembered as a teenager a bit of an oddball character but likeable, very convincing so well done.

The two comedy characters Grandma played by India Wilkinson and Uncle Fester played by Jonny Jones gave two great performances with fantastic comedy timing but the way Uncle Fester fell in love with the moon was hilarious and now it made sense why there was such a beautiful moon as this would play a big part in the story.

Lucas Beineke played by Lucas Martin was full of confidence on stage which showed with his dancing and singing, won’t be long before he is taking on lead roles in adult productions.

His parents Mal and Alice Beineke played by Aiden Thompson and Izzy Rigler done a great job going from one kind of character to another after singing Full Disclosure ( which may I say was fantastic by everyone on stage), not always the easiest thing to do but you both did it so well.

This now leaves me to talk about in my eyes a brilliant performance from Bridie-May Dustin playing Wednesday Addams the way you delivered your lines with so much finesse and sang like somebody who has been singing on stage for years was so powerful. A first-class all-round performance and what a future you have in theatre you must be so proud of yourself.

Mark Hazzard done a wonderful job as musical director along with Georgia Hunter who was the choreographer for the show, the movement on stage was very good especially with the costumes which looked amazing, I could see how much hard work had gone into this show.

Unfortunately, I cannot mention everybody, but the Ensemble played their parts ever so well and sometimes you need a good Ensemble to have a great show so a very well done to you all.

A truly great show which was well directed by Sarah Deans, all the hard work through rehearsals really paid off so a big round of applause from me.

A great night’s entertainment which was really appreciated by the audience.
