The Addams Family - A New Musical

What a delightful evening spent with the talented youngsters of Aberdeen Youth Music Theatre. I was impressed from the start with the level of professionalism on the stage by all the company. Principals all well cast with characterisation to the fore, a tricky task with such iconic personas. Vocals were secure and comic timing strong. As I am aware of the 2nd cast I will not identify individuals as I am sure they are of equal ability. I loved the involvement of the chorus and the striking ancestor costumes certainly completed the atmosphere of the show. Well done!

The production team showed great skill in the way this show was presented. Set was stylish and easily handled by crew and cast. Vocal were well rehearsed and filled the auditorium with delightful sound. Choreography was carefully done to ensure all were seen and at a level where all shone. A difficult task with a large chorus. I especially enjoyed ‘The Moon and Me and the Tango. As I have already mentioned the costumes were excellent all of the ancestors as an identified character and the principals recognisable as the characters we all know and love. Sound and Lighting completed the package. Well done backstage crew.

To work with a company of youngsters can be demanding but so rewarding and I hope you are all proud of what you have achieved because you deserve to be. This is my first visit to see this company and I hope to come back to see more.
