The Addams Family

Coventry Youth Operetta Group performed The Addams Family Musical, which tells the story of what happens when the eccentric family life is disrupted, as Wednesday Addams falls in love and brings home a “normal boy”.

The principal cast consists of Gomez Addams (Marlie Blackstock) and Morticia Addams (Maddie Davis) Wednesday and Pugsley parents, each portrayal being strong in character and played well with each other and dealing with family life. Pugsley Addams (Reuben Boxer) and Grandma Addams (Erin Tranter) gave impressive performances and characteristics. Lurch and Uncle Fester, gave great facial expressions and did very well in character throughout.

Wednesday Addams (Elsie Harris) was excellently played, keeping character and showing the deadpan moodiness of the character throughout with excellent vocal ability and working well with Lucas Beineke (Hudson Mansour-Webb)  gave a good performance and with ease. 

Lucas Parents, Mal Beineke (Sam Edwards) and Alice Beineke (Bethany Mattock) were played well  and gave good contrast to the eccentric Addams Family.

The remaining cast play the ancestors were delightful to watch.

There was some excellent musical numbers. Unfortunately, there was times when the sound was not quite right and was difficult to hear at some points. However, the costumes lighting and set complimented the overall feel to the performance and enjoyable evening.
