Anyone coming along thinking they were about to see an adaption of this classic novel The 39 Steps by John Buchan was in for a big surprise as this play, with only four actors portraying the 100 characters, gave the audience a totally enthralling evening's entertainment. Jeremy Malpas, Rachel Ingham, Chris Nixon and Steven Illidge are all to be congratulated on their performances and I am sure they derived a lot of fun at rehearsals and the run of the show. Ian Currie is to be applauded for taking on this spoof of a classic novel and an iconic Alfred Hitchcock film.
The set though simple worked very well for all the different scenarios required. Well done to all connected with 39 Steps. Costumes were in keeping with the period and were a credit to all involved in collecting and indeed collating them for the many rapid changes.
