What an amazing performance of this spoof on Alfred Hitchcock's 'The 39 Steps'. It is incredibly difficult to portray things going wrong and to make it look natural but this cast had been rehearsed to perfection.

Jason Evens as Richard Hannay was ideally cast in the role. He was on stage for most of the play and he never faltered ,unless, of course, he had to do.

Emily Taylor switched cleverly between her three parts as the spy Arabella Schmidt, Scottish wife Margaret and Pamela, the girl Hannay meets on the train. They were three totally different roles but she brought a new character to each one.

Man 1 and Man 2 does little to describe the roles played by Bruce Sturrock and Tom Kyle. They had so many parts it's hard to remember them all but each one was brilliantly worked out. They must have been exhausted by the end of the play but what great performances.

The whole production was slick and well timed with very amusing results. The set was excellent with some amusing special effects. The lighting was, as ever, very impressive but the sounds effects merit a special mention as the timing was superb.

This was, as we have come to expect from BrassNeck, a very tight, well rehearsed and meticuously directed performance and it was a privilege to be in the audience.
