Cleverly constructed, the characters and situations comedic yet poignant resonate with audiences particularly those with experience in schools. The play follows the hilarious story of an idealistic new Drama Teachers progress through terms of recalcitrant classes, cynical colleagues and obstructive care takers.

Beneath the humour the play critiques the inequalities inherent in the British Education System. A recent study found B.A.F.T.A nominated actors are five times more likely to have attended private schools at 35% compared to the national average of 7%; suggesting the vital message in the play is as relevant today as it was almost forty years ago.

The Cast

                 Edward James

Ian "Salty Salters”, Mr Nixon, Oggy Moxon, Daniel, Peter Saxon, Mr Fisher, Mr Hatton

It is not easy for young people to play characters much older. To interchange characters in the same play takes observation and depth of thought beyond your years. Every character was distinctive and convincing. Well done, Edward.

                 Katie Allen….

Gail Saunders, Miss Prime, Mrs Whittam, Doug, Oggy Moxon, Barry, Wobshal,Mrs Coates

It was difficult to believe this was your stage debut Katie. You have a natural acting style your character's entered the stage with confidence and belonging. Some of your character's I have seen overacted. You skilfully avoided. You and your fellow actors have excellent comic timing, a real gift and a joy to watch.

                   Harry Corcoran
Hobby, Mr Basford, Mrs Parry, Mrs Jones, Oggy Moxon, Piggy Patterson, RonMrs Clifton

Harry your character's commanded the stage. Your stage presence and charisma instantly endearing. Your portrayal of the Lady Teachers, voice, mannerisms and facial expressions reminded me of a very famous actor - for those who may remember Alistair Sim. Mesmerising Harry.

A difficult first play for any Director with so many "play it for laughs" traps. Handled with real skill and understanding of the authors intention. Well done, Lucinda. Every aspect of this fast-moving Drama flowed seamlessly, suggesting a cast and crew working in perfect harmony to produce a first-class production.
