I must admit Alan Bennett is one of my favourite playwrights and I was looking forward to ‘Talking Heads’ featuring the monologues of ‘A Chip In The Sugar’, ‘Her Big Chance’ and ‘A Lady Of Letters’. Needless to say I was not disappointed. The sets were simple but served their purpose and I particularly liked the music played between the scenes depicting the passage of time and mood.

Graham Whittaker (Andy Pontin) seemingly had a contented relationship with his mother until she met an old acquaintance from the past. This was to dramatically change his life. Andy had a warm quality about him that you really felt for. He had both humour and sadness and Andy delivered this monologue with great character.

Lesley (Nikki Pontin) an actress full of confidence but perhaps a little naive. Thrilled to be cast in a film wearing nothing but a bikini. Not her choice but her professionalism would not let her give up. Nikki had great stage presence and her delivery was strong and confident.

Irene Ruddock (Amy McKenzie) is what is known as a nosey parker and spends her days putting pen to paper complaining about all and sundry without actually knowing about facts and consequences. Even in prison she can’t help meddling. She can’t help herself. Amy’s delivery of this monologue was again strong and confident.

I thoroughly enjoyed all three of these monologues which were excellently performed by Andy, Nikki and Amy and congratulations must also go to the director Sue Dolby and assistant director Chad Lyon. Very well done LTC and thank you for a wonderful evening.
