The company took us on a musical journey through the four elements of nature; Air, Earth, Fire and Water. In opening, with smiles and electrifying enthusiasm generated from all on the stage, we knew we were in for a great night’s entertainment. The cast opened Act One with ‘Heaven is a Place on Earth’, followed by ‘Disco Inferno’ and thereafter a contrast with ‘Moon River’ sung by Ellis Leggatt, featuring Magaret Caven, David Stark, Shannon Jordan and Christopher Newman. Scott Dougan danced ‘Great Ball of Fire’ with such energy and Joanne Toner’s delivery of ‘What a Wonderful World’ was just quite special. Other soloists included Bronte Cairns - ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water‘; Liam Hughes - ‘Love is in the Air’ but there were so many other great musical numbers with dramatic and musical performances throughout this scene. The company closed the first act on a high with ‘Ring of Fire’ and ‘River Deep Mountain High’ which built the audience up with great expectation for what was to follow. Act 2 explored different styles of communication through song and drama. The cast opened the scene with ‘On the Radio’ before going into ‘Happy Talk’ (Sean Crawford and Jamie Rinn). Other numbers included ‘Words’ (Alistair McIntosh), ‘Please Mr Postman’ (Cast), ‘Tell Me it’s Not True’ (Eve O’Neil and Millie Thorburn), ‘I Just Called to Say I Love You’ (Paul Fraser) and ‘Email My Heart’ (Judith Abubaker). All cast members closed the show with ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ prompting us of their return for ‘Take 28’ in 2025. All on stage performed well and each cast member had the chance to shine be it through solo, small ensembles, dance or mime and it was wonderful to see the cast presenting their talent and skills. There were so many wonderful moments throughout the show but with 50 cast members and 18 helpers on stage, it is not possible to name each individually. The Production team, parents, guardians, backstage and front of house helpers should also be mentioned for their time and assistance in bringing this show to the stage as should Patron Callum Beattie who engaged well with the cast members in the parts of the show he was involved in. The enthusiasm from the entire company brought great joy to everyone in the auditorium.
