The theatre company received a rapturous welcome back to the stage of the Town House after an absence of three years .  The themes for Take 26 included ‘Colours’ and ‘Icons’ in Act 1 and ‘Breaking the Barriers’ in Act 2.  The curtain rose on the full cast with ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ followed by a variety of numbers connected with colours.  Scene one ended with Stacy Main singing ‘Hi Ho Silver Lining’ which was followed by an interact from Calum Beattie taking centre stage as the company’s new patron, joined by some cast members.  Scene two was up-beat, paying tribute to a number of well-known icons.  Taylor Milligan and Jane Morrow provided a super rendition of ‘I Got You Babe’ as did Scott McLelland and Tanya O’Neil with ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’.  Nel Grady, Tanya O’Neil, Martin Russell and Sophie Skilling provided the perfect moves in their performance to ‘Single Ladies’.  Act 2 focused on diversity with songs from more modern musicals as the baseline for breaking the barriers which featured numbers from Kinky Boots, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie; School of Rock; Matilda; Priscilla Queen of the Desert; Hamilton and many others.  As always, all performed well but it would be remiss of me not to comment on Judith Abubaker’s captivating performance of ‘I’m Not That Girl’ from the musical Wicked.  Additionally, great performances were provided by Liam Hughes in his solo ‘Electricity’ from Billy Elliot supported by Kieran Quinn through dance. Nel Grady was also strong in her delivery of ‘Big Blonde and Beautiful’ from Hairspray.  Various soloists with full and smaller ensembles entertained us throughout the evening.  Unfortunately, it is not possible to name each and every performer but no one can fault the enthusiasm from the entire company which was fully acknowledge by the audience through their warm response.
