With music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields and book by Neil Simon, Sweet Charity has everything in it for a great production, and RMDS certainly did it justice.
Jane Howell as the director and choreographer has worked hard with the cast to bring out the best in everyone assisted by Chris Grant. The orchestra is great under the direction of Jonathan Spratt. The costumes are bright and colourful, the set is simple and effective and the lighting and sound are good.

Abbie Guy has confidence and takes on the role of Charity Hope Valentine, which she acted and sang beautifully, it’s a great part seeing the highs and lows of her life, to which she gave her all. Charity’s friends Nickie and Helene, played by Stephanie Jones and Louise Daly, are also great in their roles. Charlie Daniels is also great as Oscar Lindquist.

Andy Steeds and Olivia Clarke are good as Vittorio Vidal the movie star and his girlfriend Ursula, I enjoyed the scene at his apartment with Charity having to hide in the wardrobe.

Richard Bennett was good as Herman, Charity’s boss, and Ethan Wilkinson as Daddy Brubeck was great in the Rhythm of Life number, which is one of my favourites. There are lots of smaller parts in this production with the chorus taking odd lines in the story. They all worked well together and I loved the Big Spender number in the dance hall and also the Rich Man’s frug dance.

Well done to everyone it showed that you were all having a great time and the audience loved it.
