Performing in Perth’s Concert Hall was a challenge for everyone, but the company rallied round the production teams enabling the many scene changes to be made smoothly by the stage crew and cast members.
Clever cut-outs carried on stage kept us aware of the entire goings on.
Sarah Bernard gave an outstanding portrayal of Charity with verve and enthusiasm. Maggie Grieve and Kirrilee Reid provided excellent support as fellow hostesses Helene and Nickie. Mike Melrose was a convincing and believable Oscar—a difficult part because it has o be just right.
Tom Richmond made his mark as Herman while David Smout handled the role of Vittorio to perfection. Catherine Thoms looked good as Ursula and Douglas Gratty demonstrated his flair as Daddy Brubeck. Toby Reid, Ian Cowmeadow ,Craig Dennis and the Fandango Girls all helped carry the story along at a fine pace.
Kirsty Walker and Jillian Balfour enjoyed themselves as Carmen and Rosie along with the strong singing chorus and the large orchestra which gave the mix the impact it required.
Well costumed and with many well choreographed routines this was an excellent evening’s entertainment.
