~~A new show to me and to The Arcadians.  Although a dark and thought provoking production, Pam & James Garrington did a sterling job of directing this production with this very talented company.

Under the musical direction of Lauren Gilbert the society coped well with a very hard score.

The company were led well by Simon Burgess as Sweeney Todd.  A difficult role to play but Simon put his all into it.  He was well supported by Gillian Twaite as pie maker Mrs. Lovett.   What is the secret ingredient in her pies and will her ward Tobias (Luke Price) find out what it is?  Anthony Hope played by Daniel Guzman and Eleanor Hewer as Johanna played the romantic pair in the production and both sang well.  I really enjoyed watching Michelle Burgess as the beggar woman.  Who is she and what role does she take in Sweeney’s life?

John Clay and Derek Hartley had two nice roles as the judge and the Beadle.  John’s rich powerful voice really added something to the show.

This was not an easy show to stage but The Arcadians got round all the obstacles placed in their way.

Well done all.
