~~The Birmingham Premier of The Proclaimers Musical really had this sell out audience at The Crescent Theatre dancing on their feet.  This Stephen Duckham production was so slick and fast it was a joy to watch.
The musical tells the story of two ex-soldiers, Ally (Chris Johnson) & Davy (Mark Walsh) and their struggle in civilian life.  When Ally and his girlfriend Liz (Maria Rodriguez)  set Liz’s brother Davy up on a blind date with Yvonne (Brooklyn Barber) the story commences.
As a side story we see the tale of Davy and Liz’s parents, Rab and Jean superbly paid by Rob Fusco and Sharon Tozer.
When listing to the music in this production it is amazing how much of it you know.  ‘Sunshine on Leith’, ‘Letter from America’ and of course the last song which had everyone on their feet ‘I’m going be (500 Miles).
Sally Joliffe’s cherographery was well performed by this very enthusiastic cast and the orchestra, under the direction, of David Easto, sounded really good.
The large chorus really gelled and worked well together and this came across to the audience.
BMOS – You have another hit on your hands.
