Sunshine on Leith

Despite having seen over 20 version of the past few years Sunshine on Leith is still one of my favourite musicals.

This version by CAMPS was just as enjoyable as all the previous ones. It was clear from curtain up that everyone on stage was working hard to deliver a show they could be proud of. The audience reaction at the end was a clear indication of how much they had enjoyed the production.

Sunshine on Leith very much revolves around the 3 principal couples of Ally & Liz, Davy & Yvonne and Rab and needs them to work well as couples but also as a grouping and this was very much the case in this production. All of them brought strong acting and singing skills to their roles.

The small ensemble was kept busy in a variety of roles and musical numbers and were giving their all. Singing was strong and movement well-rehearsed.

Well done to the production team for being creative with the limited stage space and numerous scene changes to ensure the pace never dropped. The band positioned at the back of the stage never overpowered and provided great backing to principals and ensemble alike.

Well done to all involved for a most enjoyable production.
