What a spectacular show, devised by Joanne Hand.  It was a very lively production, with excellent soloists, wonderful dance routines wonderfully choreographed, with 47 teenagers dancing round the stage. This show never stopped from one sequence of a show to another different show. The singing was well rehearsed and beautifully presented. There were too many soloists to mention individually, but everyone performed very confidently. The musical numbers were from every show you could think of, and the costumes were ideal for each show. The dancing was of a very high class, particularly the tap routine, Hot Honey Rag from the show Floss.

The show got off to a brilliant start with a selection of Rogers and Hammerstein, and every well-known show was presented.  Amongst the other well-presented shows were, West Side Story, Barnum, Evita, and Blood Brothers, which was particularly well done. To finish the first half, the company presented One Day More from Les Misèrables.  The second half began with a wonderful medley from Disney, which included shows that are not released for amateurs.  We had a wonderful medley from Miss Saigon, Sing Sing Sing, from Dancing, Merrily We Roll Along, The Witches Of Eastwick, and a wonderful presentation from Matilda before the finale, You Can’t Stop The Beat from Hairspray.

By the end the audience were really exhausted with the very vibrant production. Michael Trotter had an excellent 10 piece orchestra under him, with some very nice musical sounds. The scenery was ideal, just simple. There was some excellent lighting plots, and mist coming on the stage giving some very good effects. This show would certainly match any London production. Really, Joanne Hand deserves an Oscar for this show.  What a marvellous production, very well done Darlington.
