Richard Harris’s hilarious play about an ill-assorted group of ladies and a solitary gent, sharing Tuesday evenings at a tap-dance class in a north London church hall is performed with some real grit and determination by this talented bunch of actors. You could see that some of them had little dance experience, so it was nice to see that some of the blood, sweat and tears in rehearsals had paid off with great results in the climaxing final tap number.

Some fabulous performance from all the principle cast, particularly from Sheila Grew as the snobbish and compulsively house-proud “Vera”, whose well meaning remarks often brought a cringe worthy gasp from the audience.

Nickiy Mackenzie as” Maxine” and Sharon Jackson as “Rose” are cast well and add the right amount of comedy with all the wise cracks being delivered with excellent timing.

Charlotte Richardson plays the ex Chorus line dance teacher “Mavis” with the help of Celia Gravelly as the cruel at times,  motherly  “Mrs Fraser” the piano accompanist.

Good performances also from Naomi-Leeanne Millard as “Lynne”, Dawn Vigurs as “Dorothy” Sarah Phillips as “Andy”, Sue Richardson as “Sylvia” and Graham Ward as the nerdy “Geoffrey”

There were some nice colourful costumes and excellent use of the limited space for the sets.

My Thanks also to the Front of House team for their generous hospitality.
