It was such a delight to join Truvy and her customers in the Beauty Saloon where gossip, friendship and heartbreak was mixed with pathos and humour.

We were introduced to Truvy and her new potential assistant from the beginning of the action. Truvy played by Vicky Thomson was the epitome of southern sass, sharp and on the ball. Annelle (Maddie Simpson) gave her character the fragility of a wronged woman and endeavoured, with skill, to develop her into a confident member of this female fraternity.

Enter Clairee (Claire Streets) strong and confident with a delicious way of presenting her quick fire comments that enhanced the humour. The mother and daughter combination of M’Lynn (Heather You) and Shelby (River Streets) were well matched. They managed throughout the action to display a wide range of emotions superbly, which held the audience spellbound and took us all on a journey of pain, heartbreak and redemption.

Last but not least we had Ruth Mckay giving her considerable talents to the role of Ouiser, a character we all love. Played with the right amount of agro and charm she completed the sextet perfectly.

The set framed the action and great care was taken to embrace the period with props and costumes. Lighting and sound were spot on and the choice of background music enhanced the whole. Well done back stage staff!

Congratulations to Brenda who made this project come to life with her attention to detail and encouragement to all. She gave us all a night to remember. Thank you for the experience and the excellent hospitality.
