It was a lovely warm spring evening for this their first concert of the year and Sue and all the performers were in fine form. The joy and happiness which exuded from all the singers captivated their audience.  There was a good choice of songs to suit all tastes from operettas to popular toe tapping show tunes which had us all singing along.

They started with the ever popular ‘Another Op’nin’  Another Show’. A rousing start followed by a selection from the ‘Pirates of Penzance’, songs from ‘Merry England’ and ‘Yeomen of the Guard’.  These were excellently sung by the full Company with lots of quality performances from individual soloists, and beautiful duets all in perfect harmony.  Some of them were singing solos for the first time and all were encouraged and supported by Sue and the rest of the Company.  My favourite song of Act One was ‘The Flower Duet’ and everyone recognised the song from the British Airways advert. It was magical!

Act Two included medleys from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Guys and Dolls and songs from Chess, My Fair Lady and Moulin Rouge.  Although this was a concert there was lots of comedy acting introduced into the songs with good facial expressions. I used the phrase earlier, but you felt the whole cast were energised with joy and happiness which spread throughout the audience.

Sue is always such a passionate, supportive MD and conductor, inspiring her cast and with the very talented Lisa accompanying them on the piano.

It was such a pleasure to support this concert and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. It was good to see you all again and thank you for your hospitality. We will look forward to Yeomen of the Guard in the Autumn.
