I rather fancy this show should have been 18+ as opposed to the 15+ but that’s just my personal opinion due to the nature of the content and the way it was played out, there is poetic licence and stepping over the mark and on the night I visited the latter applied. Whilst I appreciate everyone is trying to capture new audiences and attracted new members we must be careful as to how far we can push the boundaries. That said it only went to prove to me that albeit set in the 1890’s nothing has changed only to say that we are more liberated and openly discuss things as a matter of fact these days but the same things are happening. There was some very good acting from the cast, the singing at times was a little loud and bawdy as was the music. Melchior (Gabriel Walker) was strong to a point but at times I felt and looked far too young to be playing out the more, shall I say intimate scenes. Wendla (Dani Fry) gave a strong performance in this role and sang beautifully. (Moritz) Jonathan Hall for me captured the essence of the plot singing and acting a good role played out, well done. The dance routines were well choreographed and performed extremely well by all the cast. Overall a very young show carried out with precision timing and very good singing and acting.
Many thanks for your hospitality during my visit.
