For a mixture of colour confusion & comedy this show would be hard to beat – especially for those persons familiar with the Monty Python sketches.

King Arthur (Jake Middleton) takes the lead role in this production ably stalking and cantering his way around the stage. He is ably aided and abetted by his squire, Patsy (Emma Stevenson) – always ready with the coconut shells whenever a canter or gallop is required! The Lady of the Lake is superbly portrayed by Lucy Campbell. Lucy’s lovely voice will be an asset to any company when she decides to move on from Cupar Youth. The vast number of smaller parts were played to a very high standard by members of the company – I will refrain from naming them all, but congratulations to each and every one of them!

A problem sometimes noticed in younger companies (but also it must be said in adult companies too!) is the failure to keep in character and to keep full attention on the action, throughout. Thankfully, problems like that are not evident here, thanks to Jude Vandecasteele’s careful direction and obvious rapport with the Company. Singing, too, is well controlled in the capable hands of MD, Emily Middleton, with the necessary boost given by some effective sound operation.

It is always a pleasure visiting Cupar Youth, where you are ensured an evening of full-on enthusiasm and entertainment.

Many thanks for the invite to your show, and keep up the good work!
