I was very pleased to be able to attend this production and what a splendid evening’s entertainment we had.
The entire production moved at a great pace with excellent comic timing. Such was the quality of the cast performance with all the laughs and innuendos which come with a Monty Python script that time passed so quickly and sides hurt from laughing. The laughs started right from the opening number with the Fish Schlapping Dance and carried on throughout the entire performance. Tom Gosling as King Arthur was well cast we could not fault his portrayal of the King leading the quest to find the Holy Grail. His servant companion Patsy played by Tracey Brough-Chesters was also well cast. She had perfected the horse clopping sounds with the use of coconut shells and her facial expressions and actions told all especially when King Arthur sings ‘All Alone’. Kellymarie Edwards as the Lady of the Lake showed what a great range she has to her voice as she covered the different genres of the music with what seemed to be apparent ease. She excelled in the” Diva’s Lament” and “The Song That Goes Like This” but also showed her on stage skills throughout her entire performance.
I would like to congratulate the entire cast of principals and chorus for their energetic portrayal of each character and whilst some cast members doubled up on parts each character’s persona was maintained at all times.
Costumes were very colourful and the cast coped well with the many changes they had. Set was perfect for the show. I did however find that in some of the songs the musicians were too loud and it was a shame that on this occasion the video of Eric Idle as God failed to show but the cast covered the failure of this very well.
The entire audience felt the enthusiasm of the cast and left after a great evening with the rousing chorus of “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life “still ringing in their ears.
Thank you for a great evening.
