Just Look On The Bright Side of Life! Company of Four certainly did, and this rendering of Spamalot was brilliant!!
A superb group of performers both principals and chorus. I really admire Monty Python and wondered if they would do it credit....yes they did!! Costumes were absolutely superb as was the set.
It was good to see Simon Bowen in the lead as King Arthur back on stage after being away for some time, he has such a lot to offer. I loved Neville Woolnough as Patsy energetically following his King round the stage with a set of coconut shells to depict a horse, so funny. Other parts were well cast including Ben Akers as Sir Lancelot, and Darren Nunn as Sir Galahad and the unfortunate Black Knight – “It’s only a scratch” after losing arms and legs!! I loved Kerri-Ann Lees as the Lady of the Lake and her rendering of “The Song That Goes Like This” was great.
Of course the whole thing was overlooked by God in the person of Eric Idle who appeared on screen!
There were many in the audience who were obviously Python fans who just loved it and compliments were flowing all around.
Everything was absolutely correct for the period, and the changes of costume were thick and fast!
A pity the show was only on for two days. I could have sat through it again. Well done indeed to Paul and his team for putting this delight on stage.
