Once again Darlington produced a first class show, very well performed, with many excellent performances, and the cast really put everything into their performances. The dance routines were excellent. The setting was a little different, with a raised stage. The sound was really excellent, you could hear everything. Nellie Forbush was excellently played by Kat Flynn who gave a very strong performance once again following her leading role in Hairspray. Playing opposite her was Julian Cound, playing Emile De Becque, and again he gave an excellent performance. The star of the show was Zoe Kent playing Bloody Mary.  Her make-up was very colourful and Zoe really gave a very convincing performance. Ben Connor played Luther Billis, and continues to give a very  good performances, really living up to his performance award of two years ago. There was brilliant in the Honey Bun routine, with his coconuts, but overall his acting was excellent. This scene was really excellent, very colourful and received very good applause.  Liat ( Bloody Mary’s daughter} was delightfully played by Zoe Birkbeck. Lt  Cable was confidently played throughout the show by Michael Hirst.  Captain Bracket, well played by  Doug Clayton, really was in charge of his men. Commander Harbison, played by Neil Harland,  gave him great support very convincingly. The male chorus of Seabees, were excellent, and gave a very  strong performance throughout. The Nurses/Islanders were also very powerful and their costumes were great.  Emile’s two children were excellent, Eleanor Harland was Ngana, and Jerome was played by Yusuf  Azam. Their singing of ‘Dites-moi’ was very good and strong.  I was really delighted during the interval to meet a few of the cast, and I hope they took my congratulations back to the remainder of the cast. The night I was there they received a standing ovation which was richly deserved. Comments I heard as I was leaving the auditorium were you can’t beat the old ones!  Very well done Darlington, a great night’s entertainment.
