If you were feeling out of sorts then this show would certainly put you back on track and make you feel like living. I have been trying to think of a show that didn’t appear, but I can’t think of one. There were songs I haven’t heard of. I couldn’t tell how many shows were in the programme, but every show was brilliantly portrayed and choreographed. The entire Company put their heart and soul into all the songs. The first half got off to a great start with a Rogers and Hammerstein selection. You name one of their songs, and it was there. This was followed with two numbers from James Bond, beautifully sung by Fiona Hewitson and Lucille Taylor. The next number was from the movie ‘Pulp Fiction’, Son of a Preacher Man sung, by Emma Browne. There were eight more shows full of songs in the first half, which finished with Cinemania Movie Blockbusters including one from’ Robin Hood’ and ‘The Prince of Thieves’. A fantastic end to a wonderful first half.
The second half began in different style, from the show ‘Chicago’. We did have two comedy numbers. In the first half we had Liz McDougal and Roger Kiddle who gave us “I Can’t Live With That”. In the second half Liz Mc Dougal gave us “ What Happened to My Part” from’ Spamalot’. One of the highlights from the second half was the Ladies Chorus who sang a selection from Sister Act. The part singing in this was excellent. The Show finished on a high with Broadway Blockbusters, a great finish to a wonderful show. The principal soloists were ,Hannah Miles, Janet Miles ,Emma Browne, Julie Jones, Paula Bailey, Fiona Hewitson, James Cornick, David Miles, Chris Donnelly, Jason Curia and Aaron Turner. The Company have a strong Chorus. This is down to the M D Andrea Rhodes who had an ideal orchestra to work with. The Director Michele Plews, in this her first show, and it certainly won’t be her last, did an excellent job. It was certainly a superb show.
