There is excitement in Crickhowell at the end of January when pantomime time comes round, you can feel it in the air. It is this dedicated company that works non stop to stage this production with all the demands of the festive season in the middle of rehearsals. Every year it is a great success, bringing the community alive. This year the well loved Snow White and The Dwarves. Punk Fairy Jaqui Daniell set the scene, a lively feisty performance. I am sure you have never seen yellow Minions like these, Fish, Mike Davies and Chip, Tony Reynolds with his amusing voice were hilarious, great comedy duo bringing fun to the appreciative audience throughout. Crickhowell’s very own Rob Jones as Madam Boubier was a scene stealer, fabulous costumes and he made this role a highlight in his own inimitable style. Bright and energised chorus brought life to the stage with their upbeat numbers.
True to the original, Snow White a charming performance by Penelope Daniell and her seven dwarves all individual characters, worked together with great interaction.
A marvellous befuddled King Boris (Andrew Fryer)a perfect foil for the star performer, the outstanding Lesley Reynolds as Queen Mayeviline, diction, stage presence and timing perfection. Gabriella Klaric-Grubb as Prince Edward, Judith D’Anna as Herbert and all other parts were very well played.
Dance Beats showed their skilful dance routines, well thought out energised choreography, beautifully danced by these young people and delightful scenes created.
Credit goes to Director Kathy Jones, outstanding Musical Director Dian Winter and musician Dave Hunt and Choreographer Emma Evans and team and every one of the hardworking cast, and production team
Thank you for a magical pantomime for all the family.
