Unity Drama present Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. The set had a magic two-way mirror Stage Right with various spiritual symbols around it. The set was then The Queen’s chamber, the palace and the woods. The wood trees had UV eyes on the them for effect. Curtains were brought on at various stages too. Stage Manager and Set Design was Philip Walkden and Keira Markland

The director was Philip Walkden who also did the scene changes and Musical Director was Catherine Roe. Lighting and Sound all added to the show and the lighting in particular worked using the walls of the auditorium with gobo’s. Sound and Lighting WS Productions. Costumes were by the Cast and parents.

The show opened with a lively “Oh It’s Magic” and some great voices were heard throughout the show. The younger cast took on the role of the Seven Dwarves with Alice Rueda playing Cheery, Tilly Royse playing Bossy, Neri Wiseratne playing Nervy, Kensi Robinson playing Ditzy, Isla Parrock playing Sniffly, Kaylee Robinson playing Snoozy and Lydia Blunt playing Grouchy - I did Like Lydia’s energy and character, very grouchy.  Jack played Cuthbert the Court Aid, The Magic Mirror was Amelia-Rose Payne.

Queen Grimhilde was played by Catherine Roe who did struggle with lines at times. Queen Grimhilde tried all ways to try and marry the Prince and kill Snow White. Prince Danton was played by Connie Roe-Morton who had a lovely voice - I just wanted you to have more confidence in what you were doing. The same applied to Snow White played by Logan Taylor Smith. Your director saw something in you to cast you in that part - just have more confidence and project out to the audience.

The double act Ninny played by Lexi Smith and Nitwit played by Nellie Roe Morton worked well together being the bad guys but ending up on the good side. McKenzie Payne played Norah Knickerbocker - it really worked the bloke-in-a-frock look and he had a good interaction with ‘Steve’ whom he named in the audience (not his real name), never missing a chance to mention him. You should push that dry sense of humour more McKenzie. Well done

Bringing the energy was Ruby Leader playing Jiggles, complete with Jester hat and stripy dungarees. Getting the audience going and remembering all those jokes. Good Job.  Keira Markland was Fairy Forgood resplendent in Pink with pink Doc Martins and pink sunglasses.  Great outfit and character with lots of energy. The audience loved her. Great work.

Thank you so much for the invite and hospitality from my guest Ursula and I. So lovely to see so many young people on stage. Not forgetting all those who work tirelessly in the background including the chaperones to get the show on.
