The opening night audience of this traditional pantomime were onside from the opening curtain raiser by the chorus of villagers “Pantomime Tonight” right up to the rousing company finale “We Need A Little Christmas” and joined in with gusto in the audience participation number “Do Your Ears Hang Low?”. Caitlin Bishop was a sweet Snow White and she and Imogen Sherrit as Prince Lorenzo made a handsome couple. Charlotte Williamson was an evilly elegant Queen Morgiana who it was easy to boo and hiss. Millar Young as her (not so) hard hearted henchman Herman gave a very good performance and reacted well with Brian Mathieson’s over the top comic Muddles to provide lots of laughter - and a few groans – at the old panto favourite jokes. Ali Niven as a sparkling Fairy Godmother and Charley Handcox as innkeeper Tom Bowler gave strong support. The seven dwarfs were played by Iris Calderwood, Becca Matheson, Chloe Craig, Zuzanna Popiela, and Grace Kelly with special mention of Eligh Thompson as leader of the gang Prof and Cara Elise Wilson as Loopy. Costuming and set were simple but effective. Well done to everyone for a delightful start to the festive season – oh yes it was!
