This company has been constantly producing very good Pantomimes and this was no exception. Congratulations to Leo Appleton and Rob Fearn for once again writing a traditional script with witty and current references. It was apparent that the Production Team, Leo Appleton, Director, Pauline Hardie, Musical Director and Choreographer Amy Appleton had worked tirelessly building up a very good rapport amongst the cast.
There was an enthusiasm and commitment throughout the performance which the audience appreciated with the script appealing to young and not so young and there was great audience participation. The four piece band played at just the correct level for the performers and vocals from all the cast were good, although occasionally some of the dialogue was lost through lack of projection.I particularly liked the song “Snow White” written by Leo Appleton and Frank Harrington.Millie Amber Quine gave a confident performance as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs led by Phil Thomas were energetic and humorous as they protected her from danger.Jeanette Appleton as the Wicked Stepmother played her role with panache and flair, fully understanding what was required of this iconic “villain of the piece” character.I was so impressed with Rob Fearn as The Magic Mirror. His was an hilarious and refreshing slant on the usual traditional role.Make up, costumes and scenery were once again excellent, all enhanced by lighting and effects. It is encouraging to see the younger members of the Company gaining valuable experience, helped by the caring and experienced actors.
Thank you for a lovely visit.
