There was all the magic of Panto at the Whitehall last night as the favourite fairytale classic Snow White was told to a very enthusiastic audience with a plethora of good tunes, mad jokes and the cheers and boos in all the right places.

A compliment to the scenery and excellent costumes, a creative lighting plot set the mood from scene to scene.

The company was in musical harmony, energetic and in the majority of cases thoroughly engaged with the story.

Snow White played by Abbey Adams looked the part and was charming with pretty vocals as was love interest Prince Karl played by Sydney Mulligan in parallel alongside.

Every good Panto needs a comedy duo but we were spoiled with a Trio! Muddles, Cuddles and Fuddles played by Gavin White, Neil Hutton and Fraser Paterson kept the show bubbling along with ease, with hilarious antics and a great rapport with the audience.

A good performance of Nannie Annie played by Stuart Young had the right amount of dimwitted cracks and worked the audience to the maximum.

Desperate to rid the world of Snow White, Evil Queen Morbidia immortalised by Lynn MacFarlance was a strong character, holding great stage presence and a suitably frosty tongue. Her entourage included the ambivalent Magic Mirror played very well by Nathan Forsyth and Hertz portrayed with much gusto by Jack Horne.

Then the Dwarfs with a relatively small role to play, these seven oversized fully costumed characters were strangely alluring and larger than life with their big heads pieces, watching them execute the stage was hilarious.

The standout performances for me were the three fairies, Fairy Chrysanthemum played by Sian Johnstone, Fairy Marigold by Carina Millar and the daft Fairy Dandelion played by Karen Young were brilliant, displaying excellent comic timing, executing flawless delivery of lines and a natural rapport.

This production was jam packed with entertainment and fun audience interaction. Well done to all involved in this production it was a thoroughly enjoyable night and full of the joy of Christmas.

Well Done DMS
