Nunthorpe Player’s production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, written and directed by Julie Hobson and Alex Duncan certainly had plenty of everything, comic lines, witty jokes and a wide variety of music and choreography to name but a few.
As with any performance, everything has to blend to make the audience believe they are there with the characters of the storyline. This company certainly achieved this as they had the audience in the palm of their hands.
Katie Legg led the company as the iconic Snow White who gave a feel good, heart warming performance in this classic role, with a clear singing voice that balanced well against Prince Edgar (played with enthusiasm by Grace Spence).
The Dwarfs were well rehearsed and well dressed by the Wardrobe department who had clearly a mammoth task for the whole company. The Dwarfs (played by Tina, Reggie, Mitch, Jane, Karena, Holly and Daisy) were clearly loving every moment of their time on stage. Such a variety of characterisations! Well done.
Even though I want to mention everyone, sadly I can’t as this report would be 6 pages long but I would like to mention the hilariously funny Lee Rodgers as Nanny McApple. Lee, you were hilarious! You clearly know what it takes to get the audience behind you. No easy task, believe me, I know but well done. I’d also like to mention the ever evil Queen Crimson, played superbly by Lee Blake. You, along with your evil children (Rebecca Atkinson and Eve Smith) really had the evil etiquette down to a tee. You had the audience hating you yet loving you at the same time. Again, no easy task but you pulled it off. Well done.
My last mention has to be to the fantastically funny Jake Legg as Squire Reuban. You just had everything a comic character should have. The props, the stance and the humour. A rising star indeed so well done and keep it up!
Great sets, costumes and lighting really complimented the production and it is always a delight to be warmly welcomed to Nunthorpe.
Well done and thank you from myself and my wife for a lovely evening.
