It was delightful to be back in the intimate setting of the wonderful Bonkers Playhouse Theatre, to review Theat's latest production, an adult-only pantomime “Snow S*ite – Rotten to the core.

The pantomime, although very naughty, was tastefully done, without being over the top. The storyline loosely followed the traditional Snow White pantomime. Director Barbara Hockey has done an excellent job! The seven actors were all well-cast and very well-rehearsed. The production had a good pace and the action flowed with ease throughout the evening. The cast had the audience with them from start to finish, with lots of audience participation and good-natured heckling! Barbara Hockey was also the musical director. The musical numbers were well chosen and performed. The audience seemed to enjoy being able to join in and sing along with the cast.

The seven actors all had well-defined characters which they sustained throughout the performance; they worked well as a team. Queen Labia, played by Adele Jamookleah had the audience booing from her first entrance and gave a very strong performance. Stephen Cox was a very camp Magic Mirror his performance was animated and expressive. Snow White was played by Susan Hackett who showed great comic timing in her performance. Phil Mills played Nursie the dame he had wonderful facial expressions and had a great rapport with the audience. Nursie’s dim-witted son Dip Shit was played by Sam Leach who was both funny and endearing. Prince Willy the Willing of Wiltshire was played by Cory Kilgallon, his character spent the evening being pursued by all the female characters, a strong performance too by Cory. Cheryle Hill played Filthy Phil who spent most of the evening on her knees; this was another expressive and very funny performance. Well done to all the cast!

The lighting and sound quality was very good throughout. The props and costumes were all in keeping with the piece.

Thank you Theats for a wonderful evening that was full of fun and laughter from curtain up to curtain down!
