This new Company opened in April this year and Anna Cross had decided to showcase the talents of her students by this originally titled Pantomime. Anna had not only written the script but was also Director and Choreographer and was also in charge of Lighting and Sound and “anything else that needed doing”.A lot of time and effort had clearly gone into the staging of this show for as we entered St Margaret’s Church Hall in St Annes we were greeted with a temporary stage which had been erected with side screens, glittery trees, star cloth and interchangeable portable panels. As there were no “wings” the actors waited behind the screens where they were well rehearsed and supervised for their entrances and exits.
Every actor was given a chance, so important for confidence building. All on stage performed with enthusiasm and confidence. There were some very good performances from some of the principals.Tia Hodson , was delightful as the ill fated Princess Aurora, Olivia Jagger was splendidly evil as Maleficent, and Lola Connor-Emmott as Blue Fairy Merryweather sang so well and her diction and projection was first class.
One to look out for in future years, is Tilly Tallulah Joan Bilsborrow as Baby Shark. This very talented youngster has great stage presence and natural ability and she won over the audience with her performance in the current hit, “Baby Shark”. The costumes and make-up were spectacular and certainly helped to create the correct atmosphere
Anna Cross will be first to thank Parents and Helpers who played a large role in making this a very enjoyable evening.Congratulations to all involved. I look forward to any future visits to this burgeoning Company
