Well done Jarrow, for yet another lovely panto to add to your list. The scenery was good and the changes were slick and silent, while the costumes were excellent. They were beautiful, colourful and sumptuous, which added real luxury to the show.
The chorus numbers were very good. The chosen songs were modern and had been very well rehearsed. Movement was precise and well executed. In the title role was Rosie Taylor as Princess Aurora. She looked lovely, had a beautiful voice, and I would have loved to hear her sing more. Aisling Stephenson made a great Prince Michael, with a commanding presence and great stance. Giving most of the comedy was Andrew Fearon, as Barney. He worked really hard to involve the audience, and the kids loved him. I really liked the idea of the magic button and its end result.
Alongside Andrew in the comedy stakes was Lawrence Clark as Nanny Nora. He must be the best dressed dame in panto, and some of his changes were amazing. The rapport between Nora and Barney was excellent. Jill Reay, as the baddie Carabosse, was really good. She looked great and her scary voice and laugh were brilliant. In contrast, Andrea Dunn was pretty and sweet as the Fairy Queen.
The panto had a magical atmosphere and the children in the audience loved it. Well done to all of you.
