Wow! A great night was had by all. Well done to Nova for the spectacle of this panto. Written by Tom the story was given the Forfar twist with all the fun and nonsense that we expect but with the back history explained, who knew the wicked Fairy was the sister of the King.
From the start the company shone, high energy and stylish choreography by all juniors and seniors with well rehearsed vocals.
Our comedy was in the competent hands of Billy and Dame Penny (Darren Gill and Tom Richmond). Their interaction and jokes with the audience were spot on delighting everyone. I do love the naughty humour and a glamorous Dame.
Nasty, evil and wicked are adjectives that would please the duo of baddies Carabosse (Wicked Fairy) and her sidekick MacCaw. Expertly played by Adelle Candy, with stunning vocals, and Catherine Kay.
The love interest was handled by Poppy McMahon (Princess Rose) and Millar Young (Prince Hamish). Both were very impressive in their roles. Poppy with her lovely singing voice and Millar with thigh slapping acting. King Fergus and Queen Flora (Ally Semple and Louise Denholm) completed the castle inhabitants. They were involved in all of the fun and acted well together.
Last but by no means least we had four sweet but sassy fairies who saved the day. Each had their own character and portrayed them expertly showing their considerable experience in amateur theatre. They were Thistlewood (Claire Rioch), Bunty (Elaine Thompson), Bloom (Jennifer Southern) and Birdie (Ruth McKay).
The whole was utterly delightful made up of not just the talented cast but also realistic set, expert lights, secure sound, slick changes, special effects and realistic props. Well done to all involved backstage. A special mention to the fabulous costumes, wigs and professional makeup.
Well done to the production team, your hard work was evident and a huge thank you to Nova for your hospitality.
