A different version of this classic tale written by Alex Jackson and how this Sutton Coldfield audience enjoyed it.
This pantomime had everything, an outrageous Dame, a baddy who the audience loved to boo, a princess and her love interest plus three interesting Fairies.
John Biddell played the outrageous Dame, Nanny Nightnurse who was nanny to Old King Coles Daughter (Matt Beebee) and The Queen of Hearts (Jess Fosters) daughter Princess Aurora (Sophia Powers). Her best friend was played by Calum Reynolds as Muddles who played the part well and interacted well with the audience. The Princess’s love interest, (Prince Arthur) was played by Emily Loftus who acted well. The baddie Carabosse was played by Charlene Payton and how the audience booed her. She was everything a baddie should be. Her daughter and friend of Aurora was Avarice played by Paige Howen, who sang really well. Three three fairy’s , Fairy Starlight, Fairy Moonbeam and Fairy Dust were played by Tina Boyce, Krystian Wharton and Hannah Muxlow. These three really worked well as a team and you could tell that they enjoyed the roles. Also playing a comedic role was Lee Walker as The Archbishop. He really is so good at comedy. I feel that I must mention the three younger Aurora, Arthur and Avarice. Congratulations. Playing the role of the Palace Official was Kevin Astbury-Pemberton, who had to carry his staff whenever he was on stage.
The chorus really supported the principals well, and thanks to some beautiful choreography, looked so good.
The scenery looked effective and costumes looked great from the audience perspective. The band was just right and every word could be heard from the stage. Also the addition of the U.V. scene by Groovy UV went down very well with the audience.
Teresa Biddell did a great job with the script and you could tell that the audience and cast alike really appreciated it
Congratulation to you all.
