This pantomime, presented by a very talented company had everything a pantomime should have. Three fairies, a baddy the audience can boo at, an over the top dame and a wonderful princess.
The Plot centred around the Princess Aurora and the wicked Maleficent, who puts a spell on her that on her18th Birthday she would die after pricking her finger on a spinning wheel. Thankfully the three fairies put a counter spell on her and when kissed by her true love she would awaken.
Princess Aurora was played well by Megan White who had great support from Nanny Nora (Chris Cooper) and Muddles The Jester (James Gough). Helen Gibbs was outstanding as the evil Maleficent, how the audience booed her whenever she came on stage. Good support came from Gregory March and Grace Palin as King William and Queen Kate and the three fairies, Fairy Starlight (Beth Reed), Fairy Moonbeam (Jayne Bryan) and Lydia Sanders as Fairy Peggy. I must congratulate the remainder of the principals and the ensemble for their support. The whole company were supported by The Rochelle Dance Academy who fitted into the story line well.
Chris Cooper directed the company well and ensured a first class panto was performed. The set, though minimal looked good and there were some outstanding costumes.
Musically, the company sang well and I practically enjoyed the scene with Nanny Nora and Muddles where they used lines from songs to tell a story. Brilliant.
Congratulations on another successful panto and I look forward to the next.
