Every panto should have audience participation, a goodie and a baddy and an outrageous Dame, and this panto had them all. Written and directed by Trinity’s Chairman, Dan Barnes, this was another sure fire hit for Trinity, their first pantomime in their 49 year history.
Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) is placed under a spell by Maleficent which puts her to sleep for at least 100 years. Only her one true love can break the spell. But her very funny family and friends look after her. But will the curse be broken, only time will tell.
Aurora was played by Sammi Kelly-Griggs who acted and sang well. Sasha Barnes, Amy Homer and Izzy Clinton played the three fairies that looked after the Princess, they acted and sang together really well, especially the harmonies. Maleficent was superbly played by Jenny Marsh, very evil and how the audience booed her. The comedic character, Muddles was played by Bex Perry. A great comedy role. Playing the outrageous Dame Nurse Nelly was Richard McNally-Reilly who really got stuck into the role. He really knew how to play a great dame. Good support came from Steven Blower as Marco, James Thomas and Phillip Lines, who as King just wanted to declare everything open. A special mention must go to Cameron Hall as Russell Crow, loved the voice!
Good support also came from the ensemble of the company with some good singing and dancing.
Musical Director, Peter Bushby, got the whole company singing well and the choreography by Leigh-Ann James worked well. With a good set and costumes this panto was a big hit with the sell out audience.
Well done to everyone involved from the actors to the back stage crew and I look forward to your next production.
