A pantomime should have an evil baddy, a good fairy, and outrageous dame and a love interest and Sutton Arts Panto certainly had all of these and a whole lot more. Written and Directed by Emily and Dexter this production moved at a slick, fast past and how the audience loved it. With lots of boos and hisses and lots of cheering this panto had everything is should
The three fairies, Aimee Horner, Seanna Rondent and Sophie McCoy played their parts well, with Sophie playing the fairy that couldn’t rhyme which had everyone joining her to help her finish off her sentence. Simon Baker as Chester the Jester had the audience joining in with him. Mark Nattrass played a very convincing king supporting a really good dame, in some outrageous costumes, Paul Atkins. Good support came from Elsie Hardwick and Sleeping Beauty and Freddie Ash as Prince George.
Tom Cooper played and a henchman, Pfizer, the support of one of the best baddies I have seen in a long time. Liz Berriman played Carabosse and she had the audience in the palm of her hand. No matter what the audience shouted at her she would respond with a quick one liner. She picked on two or three of the audience members and enjoyed some banter with them.
The chorus supported the principals well, with some good dance movements.
Well, did Prince George wake up Sleeping Beauty? Did Carabosse get what she deserved? You will have to see.
Congratulations to all involved with this production. One not to be missed.
