This was a very enjoyable pantomime from the Theatre Group, everyone had been well cast and the show moved along at a good pace.

Special mention must go to Shaun Donald, playing Muddles the Jester, his comedy timing and characterisation were excellent. He was very well supported by Jim Morgan, playing the Dame, Queen Ravia. Maynall Weir, as the King, Stuart Buchanan, as Sir Tenly Knott, also performed well, and played their part in the comedy knockabout sequences. Rachel Denwood was a very accomplished ‘baddie’, playing Carabosse,  maybe, perhaps being rather more sinister occasionally. All in all a fine performance. Camille Best played Beauty well, and was well supported by Sarah Blaney as Prince George, these sort of parts are not the easiest ones to play in any pantomime. I enjoyed Lisa Buchanan as Nurse Bunty, she acted and sang very well. The dance routines were well performed, well done to all the dancers. All in all a very good all round performance by the company,

I thought the costumes were fantastic, supplied by Utopia and Julie Hodgson from the group. The scenery was very good and was well worked by the crew, and the lighting, sound and backing tracks all fitted the situations on stage.

On a very slight down side, I felt the entr’acte was very slow. The introductory speeches went on rather a long time. This was followed by a very long dance routine, performed very well indeed, but I always feel that a rousing chorus number gets the show off to a better start, and settles the audience much quicker. The show had been running forty five minutes before the first song was sung. This is just my personal opinion, and I’m sure there were many of the audience enjoyed it the way it was. Maybe I’m just an old fashioned pantomime person.

Having had my little spat, I have to say that the panto had many many more positives than negatives. It was very well received by an enthusiastic audience, and very well done to everyone concerned.
