It may have been wet and miserable outside but in the Frazer Theatre it was a different world altogether. What a fun pantomime!
I must say that reading the programme when I arrived I did wonder how two cats, a weird assortment of fairies and a princess called Brian could ever become the pantomime Sleeping Beauty but I have to say they stuck to the story line very well and of course everything ended happily ever after.
There was a strong cast with lots of humour from every character. The whole company entered into the fun of the story and sang and danced enthusiastically. There was an unusual casting of a puppet as the wicked fairy Carabosse which was an interesting and amusing touch.
A lovely team of young dancers captured the hearts of the audience and they were delightful to watch.
Good use was made of the auditorium for chorus numbers which made the audience feel very much a part ot the production surounded by Zombies etc.
There was an interesting dream scene where the principals appeared as Scooby Doo and friends which the children loved and they joined in heartily with all the shouting.
This was a pantomime with lots of pace, lots of fun and it was just the right length for a children's entertainment. Well done Knaresborough.
